Final Final!

Digital Alchemy Since being in digital alchemy I have learned a lot about the digital world more then I knew before. This course has opened my eyes to things that I never known to exist. They’re been assignment and in class activities that I’ve question because I’m like no way could you do this or that. However, those things comes from not knowing. So since I started learning about the things that digital alchemist do, I started to learn […]

It’s Been Real (Or Has It…???) ^.^~

(Just kidding This simulation’s graphic’s are super real >.<) So, it’s the end of another semester spent traversing the weird, wild web, huh? Time definitely flew by this semester! It feels like just yesterday we were talking about the terrors of online data tracking… or maybe I’m just having flashbacks of Zuckerberg testifying before Congress >.> Anyway… This semester was definitely wild. I can honestly say I was not expecting to do as much work as I managed to pull off this semester. Check […]

What a Semester. . . #netnarr #out

This semester has been one to add to the books. Not only is it my final undergrad semester, but it was an awesome experience in my Digitial Alchemy Class with Professor Alan. I feel I have learned a great number of skills I can take with me as I further my web career, and digital writing career.  From learning some of the basics of coding skills to meme’s and gifs, gaming, redlining, blogging, the list is endless.  At first, I was […]

Final Reflection

Well, I made it to the end of the semester…  Overall, I think I fell short of my goal for this class, as I missed several assignments and blog posts, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t gained something valuable from the Spring 2018 Networked Narratives experience.  If I had to condense it into one statement, I’d say that I gained a deeper understanding of the Twitter platform. Hosting a Twitter chat about empathy games and learning to create simple Twitter […]

E Lit is life!

E-Lit link The title of the article was called Why E-Books and Kindles don’t innovate writing This e-lit talks about different phases of E- poetry Phase 1 December 20, 2011- September 1, 2013 E-Lit started as a daily blog and the editor was committed to reading and writing about a poem a day. Instead of the writing settling for a 100 word count they wrote about 250-300 word per poem. The person was faithfully to the daily constraint for 500 days […]

E Lit Experience

So my E-lit experience was a bit peculiar. I clicked on the four links that my Professor sent the students in our choosing. Just one link has over 20 options in choosing which reading one would like tot read. I chose a couple. My first reading is called “Golpe de Garcia.” It was in Spanish which is my first language so it related to me in that aspect. It was about a company’s boss being in the hospital on his death […]

E-Lit . . . Yeah It’s Lit !!!!

This week we took a look at E-literature, something I have honestly never heard of.  As I was looking at the different forms of E-literature, which refers to works with an important literary aspect that takes advantage of the capabilities and contexts provided by the stand-alone or networked computer, I came across E-poetry.  I personally am a fanatic for good poetry and creative pieces, so I had to go in depth with the explanation of this particular form of literature. E-Poetry is, according […]

Hopeful Monster: Exploring an ELit Frankenstein of Hypertext & Kinetic Poetry~

This week, we’ve finally begun our much-anticipated exploration of Elit. (Perhaps, it’s only much-anticipated on my end though…?) Delving into Elit As I may have mentioned before, I’ve taken a few courses already on ELiterature and networked narratives. And so, I’ve already developed a bit of a soft spot for the genre. I find the experimentation and spontaneity and interactivity of Elit to be engaging in a way that is not better than traditional literature but that allows for more of my […]

What is up with Bots? Week 12 Blog

I am pleased to announce my induction to Epsilon Epsilon Omega Honor Society, woohoo! Only negative aspect of it, was that I missed Netnarr’s class last week. I must say, it probably was the worst time to have missed class since the class went over and made their own bots. This technological class has been a bit tough, but if you miss the class, especially having the TA’s there to help, it can be like running in a maze, no […]

On Digital Redlining

My Game Designer Audio Report: https://soundcloud.com/georjust/justin-george-game-designer Week after week, I explain the following to my Uber/Lyft passengers calmly: -Surge (extra fares) is not something a driver determines. -Surge is determined by the amount of demand in an area. -Drivers can see surge on a map as “heat” spots, with red indicating a greater demand/higher surge pricing. They still complain that it costs too much. Oh well. But the way that Uber has “painted” my city and the cities around me, […]

bots the matter with you?

breaking! this past week, it has been reported that yes, bots were on the rise again on twitter... except they weren't russian bots - this was the work of kean students!and i'll be the first to admit that i think everyone did a great job with living double lives in their own twitter as both a tired, politically distraught student and a persistent, politically distraught bot! the purpose of the bots were to create conversation, but to ask the questions […]

Don’t Talk About it, Bot About it

This week I got to experience Bots 2.0 meaning, I got a second go 'round with the whole bot experience. And I must say that this time was much better, well, that is not exactly true. This time I was more comfortable with the entire experience. Plus Alan gave us a specific direction for this year's bot activity. In my Twitter DM I found the following message:  Your #netnarr botversarion position to promote is we need to be better at […]

Bot-ulism

Last week in class we ventured into the world of bots.  We started by looking at some exemplary bots, from the famous experiment ELIZA to the works of poetry-generating bots.  We concluded with an exercise where we created our own Twitter bots to tweet about a given topic.  I found the topic of bots both fascinating and challenging, even a little nostalgia-inducing. I’ve had a soft spot for robots and artificial intelligence ever since I saw a documentary about real-life […]

Bot Life for life

Well this week was definitely an interesting but odd week all together. I learned that you can create a bot that can send out tweets or information in general for you without me having to type it up myself. I learned that bots are basically a whole different entity that sends out its own information. All I had to do was set it up and it did everything on it’s own. I find it really weird because it acts like […]

Bots & Whatnot~

Beep-Beep-Boo-Bot: Revisiting Bots So, at this point in my exploration of the digital humanities, I’m not unfamiliar with bots. In fact, I’ve written about them at length before. More, I’ve written about the ethics or lack thereof of bots here. This isn’t to say that I’ve, by any means, said all there is to say about bots, just that I have thought about them and their functions in detail before. And, more, as far as interacting with and creating bots, […]
