this post, like the world, is a chaotic mess

Whoop-dee-doo guess who had to leave class early again because someone decided to qualify for playoff games so someone had to trill a piccolo on the sidelines. First italicized someone: my school’s girls’ basketball team.  (they lost) Second italicized someone: moi. Hoooo boy I have a story about right after I left class but I think my blood pressure will just skyrocket if I tell it in full again so I’ll keep it short: I had a headache when I left class, and […]

ORSTRESSDER

GIF and Memes           I have to admit I was not excited about this week's activities at all. I felt like a lot of people were, but these were two areas I did not have much familiarity with. In fact, Wednesday was the first time I made a GIF. I was content with the GIF based off of Howard Rheingold's Alchemagickal Lucid DreamBox and my knowledge, but the GIF was not one of my favorites. […]

In the Mist of Chaos

This week has been a whirlwind. I enjoyed class this week, from making the human graph, to making gifs and memes. I could not stop giggling in class this week. I was pushed outside of my comfort zone, and enjoyed every minute of it. https://t.co/aywZVh6b9e via @giphy @netnarr @hrhingold — Victoria Sardinas (@Vick_Sardinas) February 22, 2017 Waiting Skeleton https://t.co/0xYRG1QyCL via @imgflip @netnarr — Victoria Sardinas (@Vick_Sardinas) February 22, 2017 Batman Slapping Robin https://t.co/qx6FLCw0Ho via @imgflip @netnarr — Victoria Sardinas (@Vick_Sardinas) […]

please welcome to the stage… THE LADY REE POSING!

It’s nice to be able to have a moment of fresh air, where we step out of the lab, away from all the potion fumes and mountains of spellbooks, so that we can enjoy a metaphorical cigarette break. We get to reflect on our journey so far in our alchemical pursuits for Networked Narratives, and I think it’s been a rather interesting adventure. I don’t think I, or anyone in the class, for that matter, was really expecting anything that […]

The Network Effect and other little things.

MEMES & GIFS You thought I was going to start with the Network Effect site didn’t you? Hehe, sorry no, but if you haven’t checked it out please do. Click here. Within the past week, the class was asked to create some of our own media content. It was a fun experience, especially seeing what my other classmates were able to curate, and even replying to their gifs with more gifs. I will link to some of my favorite memes […]

Weekly Reflection of Memes

Last week of class was fantastic. I don’t think one can ever accurately predict the course of the class each week. They always have something fun and engaging for us students to do. It’s almost like we’re kids but this is too fun. The best part of the class was spending time creating memes from Rheingold’s video on lucid dreaming. I was a little unsure of how far would be too far. In the digital world, one should […]

Network Effect Experience

When we were told to experience this Network Effect I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m not very enthusiastic about doing this again. I do wonder why I have to wait a whole nother 24 hours for the next experience. Anyway, I like the statistics and the diagrams but the 7 minute wait was annoying. A lot of the image flicks repeated. I’m not really sure what I was supposed to get out of this exercise but for me I […]

Ready for Repose

Happy week-before-spring-break, everyone! We've almost made it!This is the first Google image result for the search "repose." It accurately represents how I'll be spending my spring break. This week, one of our assignments was to explore Network Effect, which was a unique experience. The estimated 7 minutes of video presented a chaotic whirlwind of posts and experiences, the intent of which was to induce "a state of anxiety, trigger a fear of missing out, and totally frustrate any attempt at completeness.” […]

Shadow Girl Reflects IV: Immersed in the Chaos

When it comes to chaos and order, I find it fascinating how often ideas of each can be swapped to mean the reverse. For example, some people, like Howard Rheingold, dislike order because it places you in a routine, tells you where to sit and when to stand. It makes decisions for you. But, there are many people out there, like one person in the studio visit with Howard Rheingold this past week, who see structuring forces as necessary–especially in formative years–and […]

Dream Girl

“Let’s go to our happy place.” Mommy would say when Daddy’s voice began to hit a certain octave–somewhere between a beastly bellow and a rumbling growl. It bounced off bone. Broke bone–when a slur accompanied it. Sometimes when it didn’t. Mommy told the nurses I was clumsy–a topsy, turvy tot falling head over teapot. Lost in my own little dream land. The nurses never looked as convinced as Mommy did. Hospitals were frequent but transient haunts, us hollow-eyed phantasms in advance mourning for […]
