Is Making Music With The Machine The Same As Writing With The Machine?

Music Machine flickr photo by Dogtrax shared under a Creative Commons (BY-SA) license My connected friend, Maha Bali, shared a post about thinking through how to navigate the world of citation in the age of ChatGPT and AI-generated text, particularly if a writer uses the AI chat for parts of their own writing and/or research. Maha suggested a citation format, but I was particularly intrigued by Alan Levine’s thoughtful response in the comments, and when Alan referenced Jonathan Portiz’ insights […]

On our way…

On our way! I am really so happy with our launch of the #NetNarr “collaboratory”. I feel the shared enthusiasm in the room for “The Human Nature of Writing“. It seems there are so many open possibilities for our collective exploration of A.I.’s impact on the writing process. As you are all settling into this new semester, the metaphorical allusions you have shared (about how you are feeling at this point) are telling. I can tell that you are juggling […]

Nice to meet you!

I was so happy to welcome all of you to #netnarr on Thursday evening (1/19) as we took a bit of time together to acclimate to this learning journey. Best but I suspect it have been during one of the handful of Networked Narrative projects I engaged with (in one session, we all created our own bots and mine is still rolling along as the PeaceLove&Bot). The Artybots collection by Best, a poet and designer, are fascinating, particularly because they were released before this latest wave of AI Art platforms. Here is my […]

Daily Create 2023

Daily Create Leaderboard 1/1/23 I first did a Daily Create on 19th March 2016, and I’ve been doing it daily for years now. As of this morning I have completed 2465 challenges. Sometimes, when I have a bit of spare time, I look back at ones I missed and fill in the gaps. I had hoped to end 2022 with a final tally of 2500, and I came pretty close. So what will my challenge be for 2023? To do […]
