Self-Assessment 2019

This semester has been quiiiiite an interesting one, haha. I started off not even realizing I was taking Netnarr again and ended with a amalgamative journal entry about fandom and K-pop while talking to myself. We’ve… come a long way, huh. Regarding new skills, I think this semester I’m most proud of the fact I got my bot, @fab_euphie, working. She ain’t perfect, but she’s functional, and boy if that ain’t the mood of the year. Anyway kudos to Kelli […]

The Gif That Keeps on Giffing…

Hey~ Welcome back to my humble little dark corner of the web ^.^ Hope everyone had a nice enough week~ My week was the usual: Anyway, that brings us nicely to the topic at hand:  GIFs~ soft g don’t @ me i’ll fight you This week, we got to continue our exploration of new forms of digital content creation by discussing the gif. Now, if you’re like most Internet users these days, you are fairly familiar with the gif. Personally, I interact […]

turning back time

Reflecting on this year’s #Netnarr class, I realized that our journey was very different than last year’s in a number of ways. Even though we participated in connected learning, used most of the same tools, and even revisited familiar faces in our studio visits, they were two separate experiences. If I had to describe last year’s class, it would be more “creative”— and by creative, I mean there were more chances for imagination, interpretation, and remix. We had opportunities to […]

Open Participants 2018, The Network

Wearing the SOC(k)

Photo by Mike Wilson on UnsplashThese reflections are from the last iteration of Network Narratives. I feel that last years involvement was like being part of a SOC.SMALL  OPEN  CLASS (SOC)At any point in time, there was between 4-10 open participants active (or that I have interacted with) in the Network Narratives activities. Some people were consistent all the way through and other people came into the class through the porous class walls. During our Open Bus Tour  Alan Levine mentioned […]

Log #14: A Reflection and a Letter

Dear Aris, I am replying to your letter from last week.  I also wanted to tell you that if you are gointo deliver me a letter, do not do it on the back of a unicorn.  It’s “disguise” did not work at all.  It only made the unicorn more obvious.  People started to call the cops, and I had to get the unicorn to run away, which is much harder than it actually sounds. I am very thankful that I […]

Log# 12.5: A Goodbye (For Now)

The other day while I was eating a cookie, I received a strange letter arriving pinned on the back of a unicorn.  This unicorn had a sign on it that said “Normal Human Animal”.  I think my alchemist friend from Arganee needs to take a class on Earth species.  Anyway, the letter was quite peculiar: My goaafy friend, I am writing to tell you that I am thankful for your help.  Rebeg contacted me and the other alchemists to tell […]

A Fond Farewell: Looking Back At It All

Dear The One Above All, It’s been quite some time since I’ve heard from you last. It was an uplifting change of pace to hear from since I wrote to you when you set out to rectify the decline magical statue of the world of Arganee, and I’m glad to hear that it was a success. I’m sorry to hear that you did not live up to the expectations that you set for yourself during all this time, though, unfortunately, […]

a reflection & a thank you

I’ll be honest— when the class started and we learned that we were going to be “alchemists” learning “alchemy,” I think I was thrown for a loop. I’m all about creativity in the classroom, but I think the scientific nature of the theme scared and confused me— after all, the heck do I know about alchemy? Asides from Full Metal Alchemists (which, by the way, is full of incorrect alchemical concepts), I really did not know anything. How was I […]

this is not the end, comrade

Dear Ketsunya, Privyet! Thank you for coming into a life of your own these past few months. Even though I may have started constructing the idea of who you are, you really become a whole new movement on your own. I chose your name because it meant “kitten” in Russian (maybe that makes me a bit basic because of my love for cats, but I guess that’s another story)— and let’s not forget, you had your cat, Kat, by your […]

Aloha, Annyeong, Shalom, etc.

Am I a dork who likes taking bit words from other languages in an attempt to sound worldly and intelligent? who has some complex (but not really) conception in mind for the creation of the title of a blog post that could either never make sense or be so obvious that this sentence is rendered moot? who procrastinates incessantly while telling herself that she works better under the pressure of a time crunch and that it’s like a drug to […]

Farewell Faerie Girl (wannabe ^.^)….

Qfybmu-Egpj-uyllyzc, I think you’re very right about the Other Side being like my shadows–not as empty as I may like to or be convinced to believe. There is something remarkable about the world you call “home.” Something that is something about the place you eyeless-eyes have grown to admire, your story-skin has grown to find comfort within. It’s something I think we all here in the Other Something world should like to appreciate more than we do. For myself, I found becoming a part of your world, Faerie […]

Reflections and Regrets

Dear Alex, It’s been awhile since we’ve last spoken, I’d say ever since I set out in an attempt to bring Arganee back to its former prosperous state and I feel that I’ve done my part, though I certainly couldn’t have done it alone. So many people played a part in the restoration of this world and its magical status, some even more so than I. In this group effort many other alchemists and their unique minds and skills have […]

A Letter from Venflr Xexiatgm

Dear Victoria, I can see you have grown as a writer, and as a digital artist. Your journey has just begun. It is time for you to spread your wings, and write, write, write. You should not be afraid or intimidated by what others may say. Just prepare yourself for a long journey. Most writers have to have a good back bone, and a great imagination. I can tell you have both. You must only have the confidence to see […]
