Sun K. is a kid who got (somewhat) lucky that their parent made an amazing Dad joke that granted them a radical username for life. While being a student of Writing Studies in Kean University's master's program and maintaining a job keeps them pretty busy, they still have plenty of time for interests and hobbies like running, napping, listening to music and podcasts, tabletop gaming, making memes, bothering their best friend, and so much more that will be shaping these blog posts! Keep up with them on Twitter @SunKScribbles.

Come Apart Together, Right Now!

When I was fourteen or so, I was the ugly duckling in my group of friends; I still had my braces on, a really unflattering haircut, zero self-esteem, and I had never been asked out the way every other girl had seemingly been the summer going into high school. I felt like a freak! I got stuck with the chore of doom in our household one summer afternoon; helping my Mom clear out clutter from the basement. For reference, I […]

Take Me Down To Surveillance City!

Everything shut down except for one thing. There was no sound of the TV on in the background. My parents sat across from one another in a completely different room, trying their best to not even let their spoons clink against their bowls. Every window in the house was slammed shut. There was no gentle hum of the dishwasher. Our family home had almost turned into a metered parking spot; sure, this wasn’t going to be permanent, but at the […]

Right Foot Yellow, Tech Is Not Mellow

Well, it’s been quite the week in every which way so far! Between the developments in the worlds of the Mets and Devils and the macrosystems of the MLB and NHL, and not to mention the personal milestones I hit this week, I feel like I’m in a never-ending game of Twister, and oh would you look at that my left hand needs to go to green! So, this week is going to be shorter. Nevertheless, I’m going to compartmentalize […]

Don’t Look at Me Like That

This has been a pretty interesting week, but it is also the week where I’ve managed to hit my “semester slump.” It’s becoming more and more difficult for me to sit down and want to type everything out, and all my thoughts and feelings are starting to really box me into this perpetually tired and semi-resentful mindset of “But what is the point if no one sees me and my work? Why keep going?” It’s exactly the kind of mindset […]

The More I Understand, The Less I Know

So, let’s start off this blog post on a path of honesty and discovery; I was very, very lost when it came to trying to comprehend, analyze, and connect with the video and reading for this week. A fair comparison would be that I was the Flyers just getting absolutely dunked on by the Rangers. (What a game! This season is yielding such prime content for Weird NHL!) I’ve also been feeling really weighed down by the current events in […]

Al-go-with-the-flow

Click the link below to check out my reaction paper to  Zeynep Tufekci’s TED Talk, “We’re building a dystopia just to make people click on ads.” https://docs.google.com/document/d/13oTKoHeK0QYxsO6SP96JodNbEIu3_MMu7SS4OJh7L9o/edit?usp=sharing (Please listen to this while you read the paper to really enhance the meaning and nuances I tried to explicate.) If you’re worried that there’s something missing, fret not! Tonight’s pathfinding material looks a little different, and is going to be staying a surprise under wraps until class time tonight! See you then!

Getting In to Get Out, Getting Out to Get In

To those who know me, have met me virtually, or have seen me on Twitter or somewhere else on the ‘net, you know I’m not always the best at curbing my enthusiasm, keeping a consistent facial expression, or staying in one spot. Hyperactivity has always been central to who I am as a person; it’s what gets me through everything I need to do and get done and then some! Back in the day, my parents used to joke that […]

Look Around, But Not At Me, Please!

I remember the first Zoom meeting I ever went on, nearly a year ago to today. I was 20, for once in my life my skin was clear, I had finally gotten my parents out of my room, and I was so excited. This felt like something that only grown-ups were going to be doing for the (at the time) foreseeable future. For once, I was in the cool kids club! But then, life happened. Over time, that excitement turned […]

Into the Void

The highest point of this week for me was watching the New Jersey Devils, the best hockey team in the Metro bubble, finally pull their roster off of COVID-protocol and beat the Rangers spectacularly on their first night back! (I love one man, Mackenzie Blackwood.) The lowest point comes from all of the inner turmoil and emotion that goes hand-in-hand with the turbulence of trying to rebuild a relationship with someone and feeling like you’re pulling all the weight. All […]

If You’re Stressed, It’s Intentionally Equitable Hospitality We Suggest!

So, maybe professors won’t sing and dance and do tricks with their fellow professors/ candlesticks, but this week’s reading, “Intentionally Equitable Hospitality in Hybrid Video Dialogue: The Context of Virtually Connecting,” brought Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast to the forefront of my mind. So, let’s put on “Be Our Guest,” set a smile on our faces, and journey into the article and some of the finer points that are not only concerning, but something that needs to be tackled […]

Just Call Me Love-A-Lot!

You know, sometimes I really wonder exactly how I got to this point in my life, and the more I contemplate the answer, the more I realize that only potential reason is consistently true; I’m not just myself, but a synthesis of the best parts of the folks in my life, and the reason I got to absorb some of their best traits is because of a mutual care. (And in the case of Jamie, it’s because she’s the absolute […]

POV: You’re ready, Player One

Today, I caught myself thinking about how most people spend their lives in a similar fashion to a washing machine’s rinse-circle-and-repeat cycle. I’m not sure about everyone else reading this, but I’m pretty lazy when it comes to my laundry day habits; I make sure everything I wear (solid colored sweatshirts, solid colored and plain white t-shirts, and jeans) are a wash-cold, tumble dry low sort of thing, and I neer separate my colors and whites. (So far, I’ve been […]
