big & little windows

I’m… just gonna apologize right out the door. Though, confusedly, a bit. I hadn’t realized that the blog posts for our class are due Sunday night, not Monday night. I’ll get my act together in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully. Maybe. No, not maybe. I’ll do it. Okay, so. Gonna hit a few things tonight. And by a few I mean I’m planning on hitting two, and we’ll see where it goes from there. Three. After writing the first part, I’m realizing I […]

Where Am I (And Where Am I Not?)

At the start of any course these days, I am always a lurker. I don't engage immediately because I need to read the ground rules, figure out what is going on and hopefully engage my brain before my mouth (or my fingers.) When I was younger I used to engage right away, without knowing the rules sometimes with very good results but not always. As with any medium where we are engaging with fellow learners, we're human, we make mistakes […]

This Post Goes Out to My FBI Agent (Thanks for Always Being There)~

How my FBI agent probably looks most of the time~ I’ve missed you over the shutdown T_T Anyway…. I’m back and better than ever. Hope you haven’t missed me too much I’ll try to make up for lost time and get right into the snarky commentary~ Big Brother is Watching You “How do we know who, what to trust online anymore?…What keeps you up at night or worried about your own internet activity?” I see we’re starting off light this semester. Anyway, […]

Alchemy

For the last few weeks I’ve been watching a plan unfold, from the initial glimmering of an idea to glorious technicolour explosion. Moshie took our brief – to design an alchemy lab – and stunned us with her beautiful, detailed drawings. Niall worked his magic and turned these 2D drawings into a 360 degree VR lab. Kevin put together a Thinglink and populated it with the images and all of the submissions. Wendy did some H5P magic and lots of other stuff. […]

GranmèJo Weaves the Antidote …

GranmèJo Says Our  muscular ability, when de-mobolized – we’ve developed an antidote! An antidote – a medicine – through fashion design. Fashion design thru particular selection – of thread. A thread – that is knitted? Yes – exactly. Granmè doesn’t just knit for giggles – her consciousness & thoughts are transmitted through the fine generators & distributors of each fiber on. that. lovely. darn. yarn. ok. In fact, because of Granmè – each time you wear her hand-knitted scarf, you […]

Anna’s Weekly Reaction Blog

Ah, this week was a blast. I had lots of fun. The DDA’s were absolutely addictive. I had this drive to want to do every single one of them but I couldn’t do all because of time and certain things not available to me.  I submitted both of my required original DDA’s this week too. I couldn’t help thinking doing DDA’s and submitting them- Will people like this? Do I sound weird? Is this right? I don’t want to […]

Exploring the Elements

***Earth, Wind, Fire, & Air by the Hex Girls was playing in my head throughout working on this exercise just so you know*** Because I’ve always been an avid fan of faeries and fantasy in general, the elements and their power has also been of interest to me. In particular, fey seem to embody our ideas of natural power and magic. Also, it is interesting to think of the elements themselves as these kind of “old gods”, embodiments of the […]

Finding Value & Purpose

Digital Alchemy. Cool phrase but, what does it mean? So, I’m not going to lie. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about alchemy is FMA (Fullmetal Alchemist)–Brotherhood, of course, though I don’t believe I really need to specify that. For those who may not be familiar though, FMA is essentially a manga and anime that revolves around the lives of two brothers who tried to use alchemy to bring their mother back to life–emphasis on tried. See, the art […]
